Are you thinking about going to college after high school?

Do you want to be ready for college?

Disability Services for Students offers a Transition Seminar designed for high school juniors, seniors, and others who are soon to be college freshmen. The three day seminar facilitates the transition for students with disabilities from secondary to post-secondary education, into any institution of higher learning. The seminar offers opportunities for the students to develop self-determination skills. It is all about learning the options and making choices.

During the Transition Seminar students will:

  • obtain practical knowledge of disability rights and responsibilities in higher education;
  • learn how assistive technology can aid in accessing and managing academic and vocational goals;
  • gain the skills to communicate effectively with professors and college personnel;
  • learn about resources such as campus academic support services, financial aid, Montana Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Montana Advocacy Program
  • experience campus life including dormitory life and food service
  • meet college students with disabilities and discuss their experiences and perspectives.
