| Notes: | New Exhibit Opens At UC Gallery An art exhibit featuring new works by Kayla Romberger and Ramsay Hay is now on display at UM's University Center Gallery. The "Bean Weighter Goat Driver" exhibit addresses ideas of personal place and presence. Romberger's works on paper mediate distilled images of graffiti, abandoned structures and natural history. Hay explores familial and personal identity using domestic materials and expressions of daily chores. The gallery is located on the second floor of the University Center in Room 227. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibit runs until Oct. 31. It is free and open to the public. |

| Notes: | BHUTANESE CULTURAL CELEBRATION—Chilies and Happiness - Oct. 4 Come join us for a celebration of Bhutanese Culture in Missoula. We will hoist prayer flags, play Bhutanese style lawn darts and eat Bhutanese food. We will also be treated to a concert by Bhutanese musician Goen Tshering, who is pursuing an interdisciplinary performing arts degree here at UM. This will be his first concert in Missoula! We will conclude our evening with a bonfire to relax and warm ourselves. This event is FREE and open to the public. | Notes: | FALL FIELDTRIP TO THE BEAUTIFUL BITTERROOT VALLEY – Oct 4 For Foreign Students, Scholars, and Family Members Come join our popular annual fall FSSS fieldtrip to the Bitterroot Valley! The trip, Sat. Oct. 04, is a full day of fun activities all located in the scenic Bitterroot Valley, which runs 100 miles south of Missoula. On this trip, we will first experience an American small-town festival at the Apple Days Festival in Hamilton, with music, arts and crafts, and special food– this one focusing on the apple harvest and the role of Apples in the Bitterroot valley! Later, we will enjoy a visit to Montana’s most popular Wildlife refuge, the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge, with it’s abundant wildlife and birds and beautiful walking paths among mountain valleys and wetlands. We’ll round the day off with a visit to a popular amusement park, where you can challenge yourself in the amazing corn field maze, try an old-fashioned hay ride (included in trip price) or try some other attractions, like go-cart racing! This will be the last FSSS fieldtrip offered this fall. Cost of the trip is only $12 , due at sign- up, and includes transportation, entrance fees, and guides. Food not included, so bring a lunch or buy your meal at the apple Festival. Departure will be 9 am and return early evening. Trip details will be given at the time of the sign-up.
