In broadcast
journalism, skills in reporting, writing, producing, photojournalism
and digital editing for radio and television are honed in the
classroom and in the field.
Our graduates are the faces on TV. They are the voices on the
radio, the producers and reporters. They are the people bringing
you television and radio news.
Broadcast news students learn to combine words, pictures, voices
and sound to tell stories. Their reports may last a few minutes
or an hour. Using digital technology, they combine high-tech
equipment with down-to-earth storytelling.
First, you learn to report the news: interviewing, writing and
ethical decision making. Then you’re on the scene with
cameras and digital audio equipment. In the editing room, you’re
on deadline to select the best words, pictures and sound for
your story. Then you tell it, in a voice trained to deliver the
news with clarity and precision.
We’ll prepare you for the real show, delivering news and
programming at local stations up to major networks. Our students
win national awards. Their work airs on commercial and public
stations across the state. We want you to succeed in the broadcast
news business.
