Professor J. Martin Burke
     

Professor Martin Burke teaches Corporate Tax, Federal Tax, Nonprofit Organizations, Partnership Tax, and Taxation of Property Transactions.

The co-author of a widely used casebook on federal income tax, Professor Burke is consistently recognized by his students for outstanding teaching. In 2004, the Montana State Board of Regents honored Professor Burke with the designation of “Regents' Professor.”

Professor Burke served as Dean of The University of Montana School of Law from 1988 until 1993 and has been a visiting faculty member at the graduate tax programs at New York University, the University of Florida, and the University of Washington. Professor Burke is active in the American Bar Association Section on Legal Education having served as Chair of both the Section’s Accreditation Committee and Standards Review Committee and is currently serving as a member of the Council on Legal Education. He is also active in the State Bar of Montana’s Professionalism Committee.

He earned his law degree from The University of Montana School of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University. Professor Burke has co-authored the following texts:
