Cort was born in Circle, MT and obtained his BAs from Concordia College (MN).   He obtained his JD from University of Montana Law School.  Prior to working for the Department of Agriculture, Cort was the chief consumer attorney for the state of Montana in both the Department of Administration and Department of Justice.  He is the president of the Public Law Section of the State Bar and serves on the Bar’s Technology Committee.
