Professor Weaver originally journeyed
to Montana to join the law school faculty in 1995.
During her original tenure at the law school she taught
courses ranging from Business Organizations and Securities
Regulation to Gender and the Law. Although she returned
to her native South in 2000, the pull of the Rockies
was too powerful for the Appalachians to overcome so
she returned to the law school in 2007 (having officially “flunked” retirement
twice). She is currently teaching Business
Organizations,
Contracts and Business
Transactions.
Professor Weaver has enjoyed an interesting and varied
legal career that has spanned more than 25 years and
has included working as an associate and partner in
a large southeastern law firm, as well as the general
counsel of a publicly held retail company, the head
of professional development for the firm where she
had formerly practiced law, and the Chief Executive
Officer of one of the oldest and largest women’s
foundations in the country.
When in Montana, Professor Weaver especially enjoys
walking her three canine children in Greenough Park
and the Rattlesnake Wilderness, and trying to keep
her garden in the lower Rattlesnake from becoming a
wilderness!Professor Weaver’s time away from
Montana is spent with the friends and family that she
has not yet been able to persuade to join her in Montana
(but she’s not giving up). Her greatest joy
is the time she spends with her three precious grandchildren – all
the good things they say about grandchildren really
are true. She loves Montana and feels especially privileged
to teach at a law school where the students are not
only intelligent and hard working but care about
the community and the world. She also finds
it refreshing to “walk this walk” with
students who take neither themselves – nor the
faculty – too seriously. |
