The Associate Dean of Students counsels students on matters such as academic performance, law student group activities, and personal matters.

Biography

 

Bari Burke

Professor Bari Burke has taught Torts I and II, Gender and the Law, and Lawyers' Values and Lawyer Well-Being. She served as Assistant Dean from 1984-1986, and as Associate Dean from 1989-1991. Professor Burke directed the Legal Writing Program from 1981 through 1995. She is now serving as Associate Dean.

Professor Burke has served on many American Bar Association site evaluation teams. From June 1996 through July 1998, she served as the Deputy Director of the Association of American Law Schools in Washington, D.C. She was co-editor of the Women in Legal Education Section of the Association of American Law Schools. She has also served as the Co-Chair of the Montana Gender Fairness Task Force.

Professor Burke has been studying the lives of the women who were admitted to practice law in Montana between 1889-and 1969.

Professor Burke received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1976, and her J.D. from the University of California, Davis, in 1979.
