Law Student Oath
The University of Montana School of Law
Today I begin my professional legal career as a member of
The University of Montana School of Law community. As
a student, I pledge to seek knowledge and understanding of
the law and the role of the law and lawyers in society. I
pledge to strive to develop the professional skills and the
character and values necessary to fulfill the role of a lawyer.
I understand that as a lawyer I will be a representative
of clients, an officer of the legal system, and a public
citizen with special responsibility for the quality of justice.
As a student and as a lawyer, I pledge to pursue the truth,
to promote justice, and to uphold the principles of honesty,
integrity, and civility.†
