Dennison, PresidentBoard of Regents' policy establishes the rank of Regents' Professor. This rank is awarded at the discretion of the Board of Regents upon the recommendation of the President of the University. The title of Regents' Professor is awarded to a very select group of full-time faculty who have demonstrated true excellence and have been recognized for that excellence in all three areas of University expectation: Instruction, scholarship, and service. A Regents' Professor, in addition to the normal University responsibilities, will be involved with the Honors College, provide a course of University-wide interest, represent the University at appropriate functions, and provide lectures in the President's Lecture Series. The scholarship, instruction, and service provided by Regents' Professors are expected to be broad in scope and to exhibit great depth and vision. The selection and nomination of the first Regents' Professor was made by the President. Future Regents' Professors will be identified using the following process:
At such time as the University has five or more designated Regents' Professors, nominations will be evaluated by a committee consisting of two members of the Graduate Council, two members of the Research and Creative Activities Committee, and four Regents' Professors.
