Celebrate 40 Years of African American Studies at UM - From adversity to diversity

Tuesday, Sept. 9 - Guest speakers include:
• Dr. Ulysses Doss who helped launch UM's program
• Jibreel Khazan, one of the original four who took part in the Woolworth sit-ins against racial discrimination in public facilities, in Greensboro, N.C., in 1960
• Dr. Tunde Adeleke who served as director of African American Studies at The University of Montana from 2000 to 2006

Help Create UM's 2008 Homecoming Float

Attention Staff, Faculty and Administrators, we need your help. A call is out for a collaborative, campus wide effort to create a grand float that is the parade showpiece. We need ideas and help with this show-stopping float that will follow the lead float in the Homecoming parade on Sept. 20.

The Homecoming theme this year is Back to the Future – The Future is U! A $100 Bookstore gift card will be given to the person who comes up with the winning float idea and sketch.

President Dennison has agreed that staff, faculty and administrators can volunteer up to two hours of work time to help with the float during the week before Homecoming as long as their supervisors approve, and their work is covered.

The following schedule has been set up for float construction:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 17 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 18 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Decorating party Thursday, September 18 at 5:30 pm.
