David Schaad - Environmental Studies
Environmental studies major David Schaad travelled to Vietnam during Wintersession term in January 2013. There, he earned six UM credits while studying the ecology, culture, history, and economic development of the nation, as well as the impacts of climate change in the region. David writes, "Words cannot describe how life-changing this trip to Vietnam was for me, personally and academically. This was my first opportunity to travel to Asia and my first experience studying climate change in the field, and in a foreign land. I gained perspective that can be applied to sustainability and 'Gross National Happiness' in the United States! This trip has been a phenomenal capstone to my climate change studies minor and my UM career!"
