Bartonella bacilliformis causes Carrión’s disease, a potentially life-threatening infection transmitted by sand flies in the Andes. The illness has a mortality rate of 88% when untreated and 10% when treated.
Celebrate Academics was a phenomenal opportunity. I was able to meet people from various worlds within the university, from professors to administrators, alumni to current ASUM politicians, all with the same mindset to promote and celebrate academics.
