Creating a diverse environment for all people, including individuals with disabilities.
A nationally known disability activist, Nina G, presented a workshop on creating a diverse environment for all people, including individuals with disabilities. She is a stuttering stand-up comedian, speaker, author, and producer. Through her use of humor in order to validate disabilities, Nina G presented her personal experiences, giving suggestions for positive interactions with people with disabilities and creating an inclusive campus environment. This workshop was sponsored by the Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities and was open to all UM faculty, staff, and students.

Understanding Experiences with Mental Illness and Customer Service
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) states that approximately 1 in 5 adults in the United States experience mental illness. Knowing how to work with individuals with a mental illness helps to create an inclusive campus community.
This workshop was designed for faculty, staff, and students that work with or encounter individuals who experience mental illness. It highlighted understanding the dimensions of experiences with mental illness. The presenters from NAMI Missoula Chapter shared their personal experiences and perspectives on what good or helpful customer service looks like for serving individuals with mental illness.
