EIT Accessibility Study

The self-study/audit was completed on June 6, 2014 and submitted to the Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights.

History

An OCR complaint was filed against UM in the spring of 2012. An Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility (EITA) Task Force was created to help draft a UM policy and coordinate necessary support activities.  A Resolution Agreement between the University of Montana and the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights was signed on March 7, 2014.  The agreement specifices several requirements and processes including:

Self-Study/Audit Process

Deadline: June 6, 2014

The self-study involves research and reporting about technology used at the department and course level.  EITA staff will contact individual departments, answer questions about electronic and information technology accessibility, supporting departmental staff while completing the self-study and developing remediation plans.  

Data will be collected about the accessibility of EIT student-critical campus processes, IT procurement and the following forms of electronic and information technology:

  • web sites / pages
  • documents
  • instructional materials
  • media
  • software, hardware and software systems

A EIT Corrective Action Strategy will be developed by August 28, 2014 and shared with campus by September 1, 2014.
