Accessibility Information for the UM Campus
Beginning in late March 2007 the University will begin a two-year project to replace and install new steam utility tunnels across campus. The excavation will result in closure of large areas of campus, further causing significant disruption of accessible parking and accessible paths of travel. Routes will temporarily be relocated and UM’s Access Map will be updated to reflect these changes.
The project begins in spring, 2007 on the north side of campus and moves to the southern half of the campus in 2008. Expect heavy equipment traffic, dust, noise, and some difficulty navigating around fenced construction zones. Expect also that the digging and closed areas will shift throughout the construction season, meaning that routes of travel may change several times between April and October each year.
Please contact Disability Services for Students if you experience difficulty or have concerns. Your input is critical in maintaining an accessible campus!
