In 2009, the Montana Geographic Alliance will maintain its core programming, such as professional development, the Alliance website, and communicating with the state education committees. The Alliance develops lesson plans, and has provided funding and support for the publication of the first widely accepted geography textbook in Montana.

The Alliance will actively support National Geographic's Public Engagement Initiative - "My Wonderful World" - as well as provide Geography Action! support by mailing NGS materials to approximately 700 teachers and administrators throughout the state.

The Central Asia Resource Group, composed of educators who participated in the overseas advanced institutes, will provide schools, communities, service clubs, and others with programs and materials related to their travels this last summer in Turkey and the Republic of Georgia.
