  • The Crown of the Continent Montana Geographic Alliance Summer Geography Institute June 19-28, 2009.

The Montana Geographic Alliance wil hold an intensive summer geography institute June 19-28, 2009 at the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. It is open to all interested educators. Consideration will be given to the geology, environmental systems, and prehistory of the region, as well as American Indian history and culture, European settlement and land use, contemporary issues, and future directions. As in past ASGIs, some attention will be devoted to geography's contributions to the Indian Education for All Act. All expenses during the institute will be borne by the Alliance. The deadline for applications has passed.

  • This year the National Conference on Geography Education will be held in Puerto Rico, September 23-27, 2009.  For more information and to register, consult the website: www.ncge.org
  • The National Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia this year from November 13-15, 2009. The theme is "Dreams and Deeds: The Civic Mission of Schools." To register and for more information about NCSS resources, visit the NCSS website.
