Valerie Hedquist, Associate ProfessorStatementI teach the introductory courses in Art History and Art Criticism, with a special emphasis on the art of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. I have traveled with students to Rome, Italy in January 2004 and to New York City to see the Christo/Jeanne-Claude Gates project in Central Park this February 2005. Next fall, I will teach a course on Dutch 17th-century painting that will culminate in a trip to the Netherlands during Winter Session 2006. I enjoy teaching and advising students, collaborating with colleagues, and writing about the art of Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Gabriel Metsu.
