Steps for first time install of Banner JPI 1.6.20 (Version 6 Update 20) – during first time login to Banner
Following are installation instructions for the newest Banner Plug-in update. If you already have this version of the Java Plug-in (Java(TM) 6 Update 20) on your computer, you won’t be prompted to install it. You must have administrative privileges on your computer in order to perform the install. If you don’t or don’t know, please contact your departmental IT support staff for assistance.
To check in advance, go to: Start / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs. Scroll down the page and look for JAVA(TM) 6 Update 20. If you see it, you are all set and have the Java Plug-in already installed on your computer.

Step 1:
a) - Go to: http://inb.umt.edu. If an information bar dialog box displays, close it.



Step 2: An Internet Explorer – Security Warning dialog box displays. Click Install to install the software.

Step 3: A Java Setup –Welcome dialog box displays. Click Accept to accept the license agreement.

Step 4: If a Bing toolbar download dialog box displays, decline the install by unchecking the box next to “Yes, I want Bing Toolbar” for Internet Explorer and click Next. (You may not see this screen.)

Step 5: If the following Java Setup – Close Browsers dialog boxes displays, click Close Browsers and Continue on the first and OK on the second (You may not see these screens).

Step 6: The installation dialog box displays. The install may take a few minutes.

Step 7: At the Java Setup – Complete dialog box, click Finish.

Step 8: If you were prompted to close out of your browsers, open a browser and go to: https://inb.umt.edu
Step 9: You may see a Warning - Security screen asking if you want to run the application. Click next to “Always trust content from this publisher.” Click Run.

Step 10: Java will load into your screen. A Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition balloon will display at the bottom of the screen.

Step 11: Login to Banner. You are now up-to-date with the Java Plug-in for running Banner.
