If you see an “Internet Explorer has blocked this website…” error when attempting to access Banner for the first time, it means that Java is not installed on your computer. Banner needs Java software to run on your web browser. Please follow the steps below to install Java on your computer. Administrative privileges are necessary in order to perform the installation. Contact your departmental IT administrator if you need assistance.
Step 1:
a) Go to: https://inb.umt.edu If an information bar dialog box displays, close it.

b) The IE Information Bar will inform you that “Internet Explorer has blocked this website …” Click on the Bar and select Display Blocked Content.

c) The IE Information Bar may prompt you to install Java SE Runtime Environment (you may not see either of these screens). Depending on your operating system (XP or Windows 7):


Step 2:
a) In Windows XP, an Internet Explorer – Security Warning dialog box displays. Click Install to install the software, OR

b) In Windows 7, a User Account Control dialog box displays. Click Yes confirming that you want to install the software. 
Step 3:
a) A Java Setup –Welcome dialog box displays. Click Install.
Step 4:
a) If the following Java Setup – Close Browsers dialog boxes display, click Close Browsers and Continue on the first and OK on the second. (You may not see these screens.)
Step 5:
a) The installation dialog box displays. The install may take a few minutes.
Step 6:
a) At the Java Setup – Complete dialog box, click Close.
Step 7:
a)If you were prompted to close out of your browsers, open a browser and go to: https://inb.umt.edu.
Step 8:
a) You may see a Warning - Security screen asking if you want to run the application. Click next to “Always trust content from this publisher.” Click Run. 
Step 9:
a) Java will load into your screen. A Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition balloon will display at the bottom of the screen. 
Step 10:
a) Login to Banner. You are now up-to-date with the Java Plug-in for running Banner.
