The University of Montana Baseball Club is currently getting ready for the 2008 Spring Season. We plan to have another year as we embark on another Big Sky Conference Championship and a possible trip to the NCBA World Series. Club baseball has been around for over twenty years, but was not fully recognized until recently. The National Club Baseball Association was formed in July of 2000 to help sort out the rules, schedules, statistics, and also implement the opportunity for these teams to compete for a national title. The NCBA is increasing in size and popularity each year. In 2001 there were 34 teams that were enrolled, this year there are over 150 teams. |

Since baseball is a club sport at the University of Montana, and not a varsity program, the funding is very limited. The Univeristy grants our club with just enough money to get started, but the allotment is inadequate for our needs. The school provides anywhere from $1,500 - $3,000 per year and our budget calls for almost $10,000. With the cold weather in Missoula during the months of February and March, our team has to travel every weekend until April. The travel costs add up since we play teams such as Weber State, Boise State, Montana State, and Idaho State, just to name a few. | ||||
