A vibrant part of the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship, the Broader Impacts Group (BIG) harnesses the university's research and creative scholarship to educate and inspire the people of Montana, especially our next generation.
Our extended family is growing each day. Collectively we're finding we can do extraordinary things - build robust informal, lifelong learning ecosystems, help close traditional knowledge, opportunity, and achievement gaps, and share UM's transformative research, creative scholarship, and education.
BIG is a family of high-impact organizations that collectively engage over 200,000 people annually through spectrUM, We Are Montana In the Classroom, and innovateUM. These efforts are supported by an array of local and national funding sources, including the National Science Foundation, Montana NSF EPSCoR, NASA, the U.S. Department of Education, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Jane S. Heman Foundation and the Martin Family Foundation.
Plus, most importantly, we are collectively creating BIG impact for Montana.
BIG is standing by to connect Montanans with UM and to assist researchers in creating meaningful, sustainable broader impacts that meet the real needs of Montana's communities and learners.
