Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Those earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing are licensed as Registered Nurses (RNs). Like RNs who have earned an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), BSNs assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. They administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients and may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. In addition to the customary range of RN responsibilities, the BSN allows for career opportunities in nursing leadership and management as well as in specialties such as nursing education, nursing research, and public health.

Bitterroot College offers most prerequisite courses required for admission to the Montana State University (MSU) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The MSU Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered on the University of Montana (UM) campus and requires travel to Missoula for courses and clinicals.
