Practical Nurses care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. Practical Nurses work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other medical professional. Practical Nurses require licensing in Montana through the state Board of Nursing.

Bitterroot College offers all prerequisite courses required for admission to the Practical Nursing programs at City College MSU-Billings, Flathead Valley Community College, Great Falls College MSU, and Helena College UM. All four of these Practical Nursing programs are distant delivered programs with students taking courses online and completing clinicals locally.
