2008 Fiscal Year-End Purchasing Information

Fiscal year-end is coming and is only about a month away, and it is time for all of us to move into year-end mode.

Your cooperation and timely processing of year-end purchases is important.

Please distribute this information to all areas in your department. If you need assistance or clarification please contact Purchasing: Lu Terry (243-2204), Vickie Voss (243-2210), or Cheri Hollist (243-2510).

Here is how you can help us close out Fiscal Year 2008 smoothly:

  • Please complete 2008 fiscal year purchases of supplies, equipment, or services WELL BEFORE year end (June 30, 2008).
  • Allow sufficient lead-time to process transactions, and to encumber Fiscal Year 2008 budgets.
  • Office Equipment Maintenance Request Form must be received by Purchasing by May 15, 2008 to start, renew, or cancel maintenance contracts (this includes leased equipment).
  • From now through Fiscal Year end, all purchasing documents must state the fiscal year to which they are to be charged.
Thank you from all of us at Business Services - Purchasing for your help!    Top

Brad Batiuk Brad Batiuk has taken over as the Property Management Accountant Brad is happy to be able to stay and work in Missoula for Accounting Services as the Capital Asset Accountant.

Upon earning his Accounting Degree here at UM, Brad went right into Graduate School earning his Masters in Business Administration in 2007. Brad grew up in Seattle and moved to the Bitterroot with his parents in 1994. He attended high school at a private coed boarding school in Bozeman. The school had its own ski hill and he also had a season pass to Bridger Bowl where he frequently snowboarded the "cold smoke." Brad also enjoys many other outdoor activities including hiking, backpacking and the occasional Mariners game.

Brad's participation in co-writing a business plan for a high-tech Internet company whose goal is to provide motivation and remote training utilizing GIS and Web 2.0 technologies is something he takes pride in. The business plan was a semi-finalist in the John Ruffatto Business Plan Competition at UM's School of Business Administration.

Accounting Services has also provided a link to the MUS Data Warehouse Handbook to assist departments particularly with expense account code definitions.

The MUS Data Warehouse requires all campuses to achieve commonality in their financial chart of accounts at a certain level. While commonality is required at a high level, the individual campuses are allowed flexibility at the lower level. UM now employs this resource for account codes and their definitions.
