Mike Heuring is Director of Career Services at The University of Montana (UM). In that role, he coordinates career planning, preparation and employment efforts for over 15,000 students enrolled on both campuses of UM. In addition, he serves as Director of Testing Services which provides national standardized testing, licensing and certification for the campus and surrounding communities.

Currently in his 15th year at UM, Heuring previously served as Assistant Director of Career Services at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, and as a Career Counselor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Active in his national and regional professional associations, Heuring has served on the Boards of Directors of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers, the Rocky Mountain Association of Colleges and Employers (Past President), the Southwest Association of Colleges and Employers and the Kansas Association of Colleges and Employers (Past President).

In 2007, he served on the NACE Professional Outcomes Task Force to establish the Guidelines for Internal and External Review of Career Services. In 2009, he served as an expert reviewer for the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) revision of the Professional Standards for Career Services. He completed the NACE External Reviewer Training in 2011 and has conducted consulting and external reviews of various career services offices to assess their operations and evaluate their compliance with the NACE Professional Standards for College and University Career Services.

Heuring received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science (emphasis in Psychology and Counseling) from Midland University (NE) and his Master of Science degree in Counseling and Higher Education Administration from the University of Nebraska. He has a Career Services Management Leadership Certificate from the University of Richmond (VA) - School of Business.
