Dear Parents:

It is my pleasure to welcome you to The University of Montana and the Office of Career Services. As a parent, you are rightfully concerned with the welfare of your son or daughter and what the future holds for them. I can assure you that the staff of Career Services shares your concern and it is our pledge to you that we will do everything in our power to assist them as they progress through college on the road to meaningful and rewarding lives and careers.

The philosophy of our office is that individuals who take a proactive role in charting the course of their lives, through the process of setting realistic academic and career goals, will achieve greater success and personal satisfaction then those who passively let life happen to them.

Choosing an academic major and a career goal are, ideally, interrelated and at Career Services, we specialize in assisting with the decision making process. Career planning occurs on a continuum that progresses throughout the time that your son or daughter spends at The University of Montana. Whether it is choosing a major/career or finding that full-time job after graduation, it is our hope that your son or daughter with make the effort to visit our office early-on in their academic career and take advantage of the services we provide as a benefit of being a UM student.
