Community and Professional Services

  Mission :

Our Health Management Program upholds the mission to sponsor and/or develop conferences, workshops, and clinics in any discipline related to health, with a specific emphasis on community mobilization and collaboration. Our current programs focus on tobacco-use prevention and cessation, as well as diabetes and obesity education and prevention. We specialize in delivery of professional development opportunities at all levels from chairing steering committees, to ground-level logistics management, to design and production of conference documents and technical Proceedings. For the last five years, we have worked closely in these areas with our Native American communities in Montana and around the Northwest.

We specialize in:

* Meeting Planning

* Brochure and flier development

* Conference Registration

* Program Management

* Event Promotion

* Marketing

* On-site event management

* We also contract various organizations to plan, market, and coordinate their events.

Health Management Program Objectives:

  • Provide comprehensive training and technical assistance in tobacco-use prevention to Montana 's 56 counties and Native American Tribal Organizations and Urban Centers
  • Support the MTUPP vision to eliminate commercial tobacco abuse, and ultimately reverse the trend of tobacco-related death and disease across the state of Montana
  • Continue to emphasize physical activity, healthy nutrition, and its relationship to diabetes and tobacco-related diseases such as cancer and heart disease, specifically through a "Healthy Families Initiative" program working with partners such as Salish Kootenai College and Montana State University Team Nutrition.
  • Continue working with sub-contractors on attempting to develop a "spit tobacco" strategy with potential to set national standards in addressing behavioral change in spit tobacco.
  • Develop a full-fledged Healthy Families Initiative program working with Federal and State agencies and stakeholders across Montana
  • Expand public health related services and support to Montana 's Native American communities, including diabetes education and prevention and obesity/cardiovascular diseases while concurrently expanding our professional and administrative staff to include Native American experts in these fields
  • Develop workshops that provide a cultural foundation for working with tribal entities on tobacco use prevention.
  • Support other states (e.g., Washington , Oregon , and Idaho ) in working with their tribes on traditional use of tobacco as a model to curb commercial tobacco abuse with the possibility of international collaboration with developing countries
