Extended Degree Programs


Library Media Endorsement Program

The Library Media Endorsement Program is delivered online by The University of Montana-Missoula School of Education in partnership with The University of Montana-Western Lucy Carson Library faculty.  This program prepares library media information specialists, teachers, instructional consultants and program administrators.  It is structured so that working professionals may complete the program in approximately two years by taking a single course in Fall and Spring semesters and from one to three courses in Summer. 

To enroll, students must be at the upper division (junior or senior) undergraduate level or higher and approved for admission to the participating institutions and to the LME program.

Admission to the Program
Applications should be submitted two months prior to the semester you wish to begin the program.  Detailed requirements for admission into the Library Media Endorsement Program as well as instructions, deadlines for application and application forms can be found at: http://www.soe.umt.edu/cni/library_media/

Students who wish to apply to a master’s degree program should also apply to the UM Graduate School. 

Tuition and Fees
Tuition for the Library Media Program is $208 per credit at current rates, subject to change.  This does not include books and other materials.

Financial Aid

Immunization Requirements:
Immunization records must be submitted prior to registration.  For instructions and forms for submitting immunization records, click here: Pre-Registration Immunization Requirements.

If you have submitted immunization records to UM-Western prior to beginning the LME program, you will also need to submit them to UM-Missoula.

For registration instructions, visit: http://cyberbear.umt.edu/  and click on Registration Instructions in the right-hand column.  The Cyberbear website provides step-by-step instructions for online registration as well as contact information if you have trouble logging in or registering.

Once You Are Registered
About two weeks prior to the start date of your course, a letter and an email will be sent to you.  This communication will provide your user name NetID, password and instructions for accessing your online course.  Click here if you’d like to see an example of the letter you’ll receive.
