Financial Aid information for Students in the LME program
- If you are interested in obtaining any type of financial aid, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA). This document can also be found on the homepage of UMM’s Financial Aid department. Submit this form to
your HOME institution (UMM or UMW).
- Most financial aid loan programs require that you be in a degree seeking program, such as the B.A. in Education
or the Masters in Curricular Studies. The second requirement is that you be enrolled in at least 6 credits of coursework.
- For those of you who are taking these courses as post-bac students, you can apply for a Stafford Loan.
- For those of you who are taking these courses for graduate credit, you can apply for a Grad PLUS loan. You may also
be eligible for a Stafford Loan.
- Pell grants are available for undergraduate students.
- Several of you have asked about splitting your credits between UMM and UMW. This is doable IF you complete a Consortium
agreement form prior to the beginning of the semester. So you can take 3 credits at UMM and 3 credits at UMW and get
financial aid for both (assuming you have been approved for financial aid).
A couple of things to remember:
- You must complete coursework in one semester before you can receive financial aid for the next semester. So you don't
want any Incompletes unless absolutely necessary!
- Plan to take 6 credits per semester.
- A consortium agreement needs to be completed for EACH semester that you split your classes between UMM and UMW.
