UMExtended Courses facilitate educational and experiential learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom through academic credit courses, non-credit courses, programs, workshops, seminars, and conferences. Course delivery includes face-to-face, online, blended learning, travel, field courses and experiential learning opportunities.

By partnering with academic departments at The University of Montana and a variety of sponsoring agencies, UMExtended is able to offer an array of academic credit courses designed for teacher recertification, professional development, and personal enrichment. Formal admission to the University is not required.
Please peruse our Academic Credit Course Listing or take a peek at our Featured Non-Credit Programs below to find the class (or classes) that are right for you!

UMExtended also offers non-credit courses and programs to foster exploration and learning without the pressure of grades. Programs are intended for professional development and personal enrichment. They are usually short and focused on a single topic. Admission to UM is not required and online registration is easy.
UMExtended courses rotate and new courses are added often. Many field courses, including Missoula Underground and Hunting Dinosaurs, and more Professional Development courses such as Strategies for Effective Writing are coming this year. Check the UMExtended Non-Credit Courses website regularly to see what's new, get the specifics and register!
