Prerequisites

Students should come to class with their annual marketing budget divided into categories showing how much is being spent on various media and other marketing efforts.

Course Description:

Guerrilla Marketing emphasizes creative marketing techniques that can be highly effective, but low in cost.  This course covers many types of guerrilla marketing tactics and you'll develop a plan to implement those that are best fit for you.  If your business or organization needs a boost in revenue but is strapped for cash, this is the course for you.

Students will learn:

  • How to identify the most profitable market segment for promoting their business
  • How to develop benchmarks for measuring guerrilla marketing results
  • Strategies for marketing on the web - including when and how to use it effectively
  • Techniques to collaborate with other businesses to grow revenues for your own
  • Easy ways to use new technology to automate your marketing
  • How to develop programs to cultivate repeat and referral business

By the end of this course, students will have:

A ready-to-use guerrilla marketing plan that is customized to meet the needs of each student's business or organization.

Karen Porter is a Missoula native with 25 years marketing experience.  She spent 10 years leading marketing functions for two multi-billion dollar companies, 11 years teaching marketing at the University of Montana, and has owned or co-owned several small businesses.  Being involved in internet marketing since 1998, she brought her digital experience to the classroom in 2011 when she introduced the first university-level online and social media marketing course in the state of Montana.  She currently owns Impact Online Marketing offering digital marketing strategy, website development, search engine optimization, and social media services.  Her website, ImpactOnlineMarketing.com, features marketing information, free tips, and recommended marketing resources for small business owners.
