Osher
Lifelong Learning Institute at
UM (MOLLI)
Osher
Lifelong Learning Institute at UM
(MOLLI) offers programs that promote the lifelong learning and personal
growth of older adults through a diverse collection of non-credit,
short courses offered in the fall, winter and spring. We are looking
for individuals +50 who are curious and love to learn. Our goal
is to create an accessible and innovative learning environment so
that older adults from all backgrounds and levels of education may
pursue learning. It is truly learning for learning's sake, so no
exams or grades are given.
MOLLI
courses expose learners to Montana's best teachers, including emeritus
and current faculty, as well as professionals from the community.
Program offerings include lectures, ongoing discussions, short courses,
and interest groups covering topics from the humanities, sciences
and the arts, as well as community and regional issues. For Fall
09 course topics select the "Fall 09 " link at the left.

We
Need Your Help!
Funding for MOLLI
is contingent upon membership growth goals. MOLLI has met the 500-member
goal established by the Osher Foundation and was awarded the major
endowment needed for continued funding. The next goal for MOLLI
to reach is 1,000-members in order to be eligible to apply for a
second endowment in January 2010. Therefore, MOLLI members continue
to be a vital part of helping to ensure MOLLI remains successful
and continues to grow.
The Bernard Osher Foundation
seeks to improve quality of life through the support of lifelong
learning institutes such as MOLLI. The Osher Foundation has now
funded more than 123 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes on campuses
of colleges and universities from Maine to Hawaii. For more information
on the Osher Foundation visit the OLLI
National Resource Center.
The
Bernard Osher Foundation has awarded a $1 million endowment to
The
University of Montana to help sustain the highly successful
Osher
Lifelong Learning Institute at UM (MOLLI).
"Early
on Bernard Osher realized the connection between brain fitness and
aging well, and he established funding aimed to support lifelong
learning institutes that provide intellectually stimulating programs
for older Americans," said Sharon Alexander, Dean of UM Continuing
Education. "Through Bernard Osher Foundation gifts, MOLLI has
prospered to offer programs that are varied and reach lifelong learners
through the arts, sciences, and humanities."
