Q: When does registration for the Summer Semester begin?
A: You may register for Summer Semester 2008 starting December
3, 2007, through CyberBear.
Session deadlines are listed at www.umt.edu/ce/summer/calendar.
Q: What are the registration and
tuition/fee payment deadlines for Summer Semester?
A: You should pay and finalize your registration/bill in person
by 4:30 pm on May 9, or on CyberBear by midnight on May 11,
2008. Late registration begins May 13, 2008. Check the Dates
and Deadlines page for all registration and fee payment
deadlines.
Q: How do register for Summer Semester?
A: Summer Semester 2008 registration is available via CyberBear.
Logon to www.umt.edu/cyberbear
and follow the online instructions.
Q: Why don't my courses appear on CyberBear?
A: Once the registration and payment deadlines pass,
Summer Semester courses will no longer appear on the Class Search
Option via CyberBear. These courses have not been cancelled,
but to avoid unauthorized registration the Registrar’s Office
makes courses unavailable for student viewing.
Q: Why was my registration cancelled?
A: Registration for students enrolled in first, full and special
session courses, but who did not pay by May 23, will be dropped
on Tuesday, May 27. Students should re-register and pay their
fees by the next working day after class begins for special
session courses and by June 27 for second-session courses. Students
wishing to add or drop first 5-week session courses must do
so by a paper form available here
or at the Registration Counter in Griz Central, and obtain the
appropriate signatures. A $10 fee will be assessed for each
drop and each add.
Q: Where can faculty and staff access class lists and enrollment
information?
A: Faculty may access their Summary Class List via
CyberBear for Faculty and Advisors. To review course information
and enrollment figures, administrative assistants and departments
should access this information through the Banner Student Record
System using the form USASECQ or SSASECQ.
Q: What are tuition and fees for Summer Semester?
A: Summer Semester tuition and fees are similar to the academic
year, and are based upon the number of credits for which you
are registered and your residency status. You can find expense
information here
or at umt.edu/bussrvcs.
Fees indicated are subject to change without notice.
Q: When are finals held during Summer Semester?
A: There is no official final exam schedule for Summer Semester.
Refer to the course syllabus or ask your instructor for exam
information.
Q: Do I need an Advising Number in the Summer?
A: No, advising numbers are not required during the Summer Semester.
Q: When and where should I finalize my registration/bill?
A: Finalize your registration/bill by payment deadlines listed
at www.umt.edu/ce/summer/calendar.
You should finalize and/or pay on CyberBear
by making payment with a credit card or an e-check. You may
also finalize at Griz Central 2nd floor, Lommasson Center.
Q: What is my PIN number?
A: If you have never changed your Personal Identification Number
(PIN) on CyberBear,
it is your 6-digit birth date (mmddyy). Example: 060770=June
7, 1970. You must enter all zeroes.
Q: How much does a Griz Card cost and where may I obtain one?
A: The initial cost of a Griz Card is $15. Replacement cards
cost $10. You may obtain a Griz Card at the Griz Card Center,
1st floor, University Center.
Q: How do I obtain a transcript?
A: To obtain a free unofficial transcript, visit www.umt.edu/cyberbear
and print your own. To obtain official transcripts, you may
complete the Transcript Request Form at Griz Central ($3 per
copy) or request official transcripts in writing from Registrar
s Office, The University of Montana, Lommasson Center 201, Missoula,
MT 59812 ($3 per copy through regular U.S. mail or $3 per copy,
plus $15 per address for Federal or Overnight Mail).
Q: I am not allowed to register. Why not?
A: There may be several reasons why you are not eligible to
register for Summer Semester. CyberBear
will display the reasons. Some common problems include:
- Your
admission has not been finalized.
- You
have not enrolled for two years or more and must complete
and submit an Application for Readmission (visit admissions.umt.edu)
- You
have been suspended academically and must be reinstated
by your dean.
- You
have been suspended academically and have not attended UM
for two years or more. You should be reinstated by your
dean and submit an Application for Readmission to the Registrars
Office.
- You
have not submitted the Pre-registration Immunization Form
to the Curry Health Center with proper verification of immunizations.
- A
hold has been placed on your student account due to missing
signatures on your admission forms, unpaid fees, failure
to complete the Writing Proficiency Examination, etc.
- Classes
you requested are full, closed or require consent of instructor,
or you do not meet the registration criteria for the course,
such as class level or major.
Q: I have several questions regarding Financial Aid.
A: For Financial Aid information, visit www.umt.edu/finaid
or contact the Financial Aid Office, Griz Central, 2nd floor,
Lommasson Center, telephone 406.243.5373.
Q: May I transfer the credits I earn at UM to another institution?
A: To verify transferability, contact the academic counselor
at the institution to which you would like to transfer the credits.
Q: If I repeat a course, and pay $100, how does the original
grade appear on my transcript?
A: All courses repeated remain on the permanent record, but
when the $100 repeat fee is paid, only the most recent grade
received is calculated into the GPA.
Q: May I drop all of my courses on CyberBear?
A: No. You must see the Registration Counter staff in Griz Central
if you intend to withdraw by dropping all of your courses.
