A local crew of charcoal makers built this kiln and we measured the emissions from it. The kiln is constructed of clumps of sod piled over a stack of wood. A small opening is left for ignition. The wooden rack was intended to support the FTIR above the kiln, but the smoke drifted sideways and we didn't need the rack.
