Natural Resource Surveys at Joint Base Langley-Eustis and Andrews AFB

CIRE is conducting Flora and Fauna surveys and providing natural resources management support at Joint Base Langley-Eustis and Andrews AFB. This project is being completed in coordination with AFCEC and the Air Force. The surveys will cover rare and endangered species at each location. Forestry Management Plan for Eielson AFB

CIRE and the USACE Alaska District have partnered to provide Eielson Air Force Base a Forestry Management Plan. CIRE will coordinate with the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation to provide an exceptional plan for the base.

Invasive Species Management at Malmstrom AFB

CIRE is excited to be partnering with the Air Force in the State of Montana again for this project. CIRE is coordinating with a Montana-owned and state-approved applicator to develop and execute an invasive species management plan. This work is the start of a multi-year effort to minimize invasive species and their effects on the base. Subsequent years' work will include the development of an educational outreach program related to invasive species management on Malmstrom.

Beale eDNA Support

eDNA SamplingCIRE is coordinating with the Beale environmental team and the team from CEMML to train on-site personnel in the methodologies used to utilize eDNA species analysis. This is a collaborative effort between multiple cooperators to eduate and inform the base environmental team of new and available methods to reach and detect previously difficult-to-detect species.

Wildland Fire Support

beale roadCIRE is partnering with the Alaska District of USACE and AFCEC to provide wildland fire support at Travis and Beale Air Force Bases and support other installations when needed. CIRE has set up three modules so far and continues to look for opportunities to expand its fire program. 

29 Palms Rapid Response Program

In coordination with the U.S. Navy, CIRE is providing rapid response natural resource support at the 29 Palms Marine Corps Air-to-Ground Combat Center. CIRE's rapid response specialist will remain on-site throughout the project and be available to assist natural resource staff on site with a variety of projects, including emergency handling of the protected Desert Tortoise.

Ft. Harrison Integrated Wildland Fire Management Plan

The CIRE WSM team is partnering with the Ft. Harrison Army National Guard to develop a usable fire management plan for the Fort. CIRE has been conducting wildland fire suppression work at DOD properties for several years and continues to expand wildland fire work in various capacities, such as this management plan.

Invasive Species Management at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst

CIRE is conducting invasive plant identification in wetland and forested areas around JB MDL in New Jersey. Coordinating with a local pesticide applicator, who holds licenses in the state of New Jersey for purchase and application of pesticides, CIRE is overseeing the application of pesticides and removal of the identified invasive plants on the joint military facility. (New Jersey) CIRE has conducted this work for three years and will continue the work until the invasive species issues on-site become less of a problem.
