Brian received his B.A. in Geography from the University of Montana
in 2002. He has completed two levels of the Health Careers Opportunity

to become a pharamaceutical researcher and he continues to be
an active scholar in the Skaggs building labs. Currently Brian
is working in Dr. Keith Parker's lab Brian works on a project
in which the goals are to study the mechanisms used by a serotonin
receptor to signal changes to nerve cells following drug activation
of the receptor.
Jamie
Kennedy is also a first-year Pharmacy student from Browning, Montana.
Jamie is a two year veteran of the Health Careers Opportunity
Program and hopes to serve her community after graduation from
Pharmacy school. Jamie plans on becoming involved with medical
education programs on her reservations. She says, "During
my experience at the Blackfeet Community Hospital, I witnessed
first-hand the need for more pharmacists. The pharmacy is understaffed
and this negatively impacts the health care the patients deserve.
There is especially a need for Native American pharmacists who
can identify with the people and relate to them."
We wish Brian and Jamie the best of luck during their first
year of the professional program!!
