Week 1
STUDIO | PERSONAL PERFORMANCES & FIELD PROJECT PRESENTATIONS

June 11-15, 9:00a - 12:00p, Masquer Theatre
The core philosophies and thematic areas which constitute the foundation of the graduate degree program for Master Teachers, including evolving personal performance and field project presentations, will be framed and explored in this morning session. This session addresses such areas as the Multiple Intelligences, Integrated Learning, Assessment and the Arts, and Qualitative Analysis, and it is intended for The Creative Pulse Master of Arts candidates only.

Week 2
STILL IMAGE DESIGN & PHOTOGRAPHY
June 18-22, 9:00a - 12:00p
The democratization of digital technology has leveled the playing field for those who are interested in still image design and photography.  This course explores the expanding artistic possibilities of this new environment and provides students with the opportunity to create beautiful high definition work based on their personal stories.  Whether you use an expensive digital camera or a smartphone all you need is visual curiosity.

CREATIVE WRITING
June 18-22, 9:00a - 12:00p, Masquer Theatre
Writing fiction and poetry is a highly lonely and personal act much like painting and sculpture. This workshop will utilize a group setting to stimulate and encourage writing. Techniques for revising and warming up for writing will be introduced.

Week 3
CREATIVE MOVEMENT

June 25-29, 9:00a - 12:00p, PARTV Open Space and Site Specific

This course offers participants opportunities to experience their dancing bodies through creative movement, guided improvisations and choreography. Creativity and trust develops through giving voice to our bodies’ expression. This class will focus on movement in relation to the natural world. The class will begin in the dance studio and move to an outdoor site. This movement class is taught in conjunction with the afternoon session, The Spatial Intelligence. Students will work from their own physical abilities toward an expanded movement vocabulary and a deeper connection between the body, the mind and natural space. No prior dance experience is necessary.

Week 4
WEST AFRICAN DRUMMING

July 2-6, 9:00a - 12:00p
Discover the thrill of African poly-rhythms in this hands-on workshop open to all levels. Drumming is an athletic, body-oriented music that challenges and rewards through the use of cross-rhythms and a group experience. Students will learn drum rhythms of Guinea, West Africa and technique specific to the djembe drum ensemble which includes hand and stick drums. Extra drums are available for use in class.

ACTING
July 2-6, 9:00a - 12:00p

Teacher as Actor: In this apprenticeship, teachers get to take a walk in the shoes of an actor. In only one short fun-filled week, students will travel from warm-ups and rehearsal to full performance of a play scene. Units will include warm-up improv games, blocking a scene, analyzing a character via the Stanislavski approach to acting, performing an improvised duet scene, a memorized cutting from a full-length script, and a monologue, and "Theatre For Social Change." Discussions will include Teacher as Actor, holding your student's attention via voice and body language, and teaching concepts and subject matter with lesson plans that involve Creative Drama.
