LEVEL 1 • Creating Community in the Classroom

Saturday, 8:30-11:30am

Creative Dramatics and Theatre activities can energize and focus any classroom. Teachers who want to build strong communities within their classrooms will fill their toolboxes with simple, fun, adaptable games and exercises to build social awareness, trust and enable their students to take a walk in someone else’s shoes. Experience the building blocks of Theatre in the classroom: creating a simple scene and teaching students to Choose to be Seen, Choose to be Heard, Choose to be Understood. These activities provide the grounding for Drama integration.

Participants who complete Level 1 will earn 3 OPI/PIR Credits and a Level 1 Digital Badge.

LEVEL 2 • Theatre Integration Basics

Saturday, 12:30-3:30pm • Prerequisite: Level 1

Learn the basics for integrating theatre into your curriculum. Teachers will experience effective creative dramatics and theatre integration from the student perspective. Participants will engage in guided integration activities applicable to their grade levels and content areas. Theatre standards will be connected to Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies and more. Learn how to use Creative Drama to answer The Big What If? What if I were a tadpole? What if I were traveling the Oregon Trail? What if I were the planet Mars? What if a book character or historical figure had made a different choice?

Participants who complete Level 1 and 2 training will earn 6 OPI Credits and a Level 2 Digital Badge.

LEVEL 3 • Intermediate Theatre Integration

Sunday, 8:30am-3:30pm • Prerequisite: Level 2

Personalize your learning. Participants completing level 3 training will delve into specific application ideas for their own classroom. Building on skills learned in Levels 1 & 2, students will develop, teach, and assess learning activities, using Theatre/Creative Dramatics in a variety of subject and content areas. Level 3 instruction will be customized for specific participants to build confidence and skills for classroom application.

Participants who complete Level 3 will earn 10 OPI/PIR credits and a Level 3 Digital Badge.
