The Division of Educational Research and Service (DERS) promotes the social and academic achievement of all learners by designing, evaluating, and disseminating programs that support the well-being of students and communities.

Supporting schools since 1957

The Division of Educational Research and Service (DERS) is part of the University of Montana's School of Education.  DERS provides training and technical assistance to P/K-12 schools and community agencies across the nation.  We house the following centers and programs:

The National Native Children's Trauma Center works to raise the standard of care in the prevention and treatment of childhood trauma.
The Montana Center for Childhood Trauma assists mental health clinicians, school personnel, parents and community agencies in the implementation of behavioral health programs including suicide prevention, childhood trauma, and early intervention.
The Montana Safe Schools Center serves as a comprehensive resource clearinghouse and training and technical assistance center for schools committed to creating a positive school climate, reducing bullying and enhancing emergency preparedness.
The Co-Teach Preschool is a fully inclusive, NAEYC accredited preschool for children ages 3-5 that, for 27 years, has been providing students and families with the skills necessary to excel in kindergarten and throughout life.
