English Language Programs at The English Language Institute
The mission of the English Language Institute (ELI) is to serve international students with limited English proficiency who wish to improve their English language and academic skills in order to pursue studies at The University of Montana or another institution of higher education. ELI also welcomes any non-native speaker of English.
Students benefit from a range of interactive courses that focus on grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students also choose elective classes that allow their creative minds to grow.
ELI students have access to all of the university academic and recreational facilities. In addition, they experience Montana's friendly people, the beauty of Montana and social and cultural events on campus and in the community.
ELI students can enter the university in one of two ways. They can...
• show their academic readiness through their success in the ELI,
• meet The University of Montana's English language proficiency score requirement.
