Andong National University English Language and Culture Program

The Andong National University Winter Program was a four-week English
Language and Culture Program for Korean students from Andong National
University. Classes met
twenty hours per week. The lower levels focused on functional communication
skills, and the upper levels concentrated on academic skills: essay
writing, university-level reading, discussion of literature, and visits
to university classes to improve lecture listening skills and note-taking. A cultural component was also integrated into the program. In addition to
these classes, the program participants enjoyed outdoor activities and
entertainment in Western Montana. They explored downtown Missoula and
rode the carousel, skied at Lolo Pass, soaked in Lolo Hot
Springs, and watched live drama at the Missoula Children's Theater. Finally,
they had a chance to spend a day eating dinner with a local family
while experiencing life in an American home.
