Syllabi and Book Orders
As you prepare syllabi for upcoming semesters, please consider adding one of the following statements:
Students with disabilities may request reasonable modifications by contacting me. The University of Montana assures equal access to instruction through collaboration between students with disabilities, instructors, and Disability Services for Students (DSS). “Reasonable” means the University permits no fundamental alterations of academic standards or retroactive modifications. (For other options see http://www.umt.edu/disability.)
The University of Montana assures equal access to instruction through collaboration between students with disabilities, instructors, and Disability Services for Students (DSS). If you think you may have a disability adversely affecting your academic performance, and you have not already registered with DSS, please contact DSS in Lommason 154. I will work with you and DSS to provide an appropriate accommodation.
Please provide plenty of lead time for your book orders. Some students who have a disability require extra time to have books scanned into a format they can use. Please do not put these students at a disadvantage by waiting until the last minute to place book orders.
If you have questions about accommodating students with disabilities, the following handbook is available for your convenience: Expect Success: A Faculty Guide for Accommodating Students with Disabilities. You can find this and other resources at: http://life.umt.edu/dss/Faculty/.
Thank you for your consideration.
