| One of the
outcomes from the Science within Society Lecture Series that is
given every summer as a 4-part series was the need to provide an
“interactive family lecture” format for Missoula and
surrounding communities. As part of the UM NSF EPSCoR 2004-2007
project, a Family Science Night Interactive Science Program
has been developed.
- Bring science
educators to Missoula for a interactive evening of science for
all ages.
- Provide
fun for the whole family, but experiments are geared towards third
to fifth graders.
- Evening
may include interactive and demonstrated activities.
- Guest educators
will be provided with volunteers to assist with experiments.
- Attendance
will be limited to 100-150 people, who must reserve and RVP for
guaranteed attendance.
- If extremely
well received by the communities, a second evening may be held
to accommodate more families.
- Events are
held on the UM campus, keeping the program to 90 minutes.
- Use of the
UM BioBus to assist in picking up families at pre-designated community
school locations may be available.
