this section if you wish to apply for Montana NSF EPSCoR funding
for a visiting scholar.
The Visiting Scholar
Program brings research faculty and their expertise to Montana in
the form of sabbaticals, semester(s) in residence, month-long research
interactions, or short week-long collaborations or workshops. Another
benefit of the program is that it provides an opportunity to expose
prominent scientists to Montana, to visit first hand and understand
our research capacities and strengths. Ideally, as The University
of Montana research groups pursue larger, multi-investigator competitive
grants, visiting scientists will be far more likely to become participants,
reviewers or even collaborators in such grants. Visiting scholars
will have the opportunity to teach advanced courses not currently
available at The University of Montana, therefore enriching the
learning atmosphere with their expertise.
Visiting scholars will
be invited to The University of Montana for a time period ranging
from one week to several months, providing they will potentially
make significant contributions to the hosting department. They will
be selected for their potential to contribute to both research and
educational goals in Montana. UM NSF EPSCoR will provide modest
stipends for attracting prominent scientists to participate in this
program. All visiting scholars will need to meet the criteria outlined.
- Visiting scholar must
provide letter of release from his/her host institution for the

paperwork must be included with his/her application.
