| WOMEN
IN SCIENCE BRIDGING PROGRAM
Read this section if you wish to apply for NSF EPSCoR funding
for a science-bridging award.
A national priority
is to increase the number of women pursuing careers in science.
While the number of women who hold science degrees at The University
of Montana has increased over the past 10 years, many of these women
decide not to continue in graduate programs or employment in science
related fields. Post-baccalaureate women need to be encouraged to
pursue careers in science. A Women in Science Bridges program has
been created to increase the number of these post-baccalaureate
women. We will support BA/BS women who wish to work in research
active laboratories for one year, pending successful approval of
a competitive fellowship application. It is expected that involvement
of women in research at this critical point in their professional
development will have a strong positive influence on their decision
to continue their careers in science. We would anticipate that up
to 50% of the women participating in this program would pursue future
science careers.
