The Ethics of Geoengineering:
Investigating the Moral Challenges of Solar Radiation Management

Workshop Goal

Promote a clearer and deeper understanding of the ethical issues that arise from solar radiation management (SRM) in an effort to inform future deliberations.

Workshop Objectives

  1. Identify the key ethical issues that arise from various SRM proposals and make concrete recommendations to inform policy discussions.
  2. Provide a forum to advance interdisciplinary dialogue among scientists, social scientists, philosophers, policymakers, and others, on the ethical implications of SRM.
  3. Develop detailed analyses of the ethical issues arising from SRM proposals.
  4. Facilitate public understanding of the ethical implication of various SRM proposals.
