The
Japanese garden is often praised for its natural appearance,
despite the extreme degree of manipulation and care involved
in its creation and maintenance. How can we explain this
seeming paradox? What kind of attitude toward nature and
humans is embodied in the Japanese garden design? This presentation,
accompanied by ample visual images, will explore these questions.
