This course is offered through the Center for Ethics at The University of Montana, delivered online from June 1 through August 24 and meeting on The University of Montana campus July 14-18.  All participants pay a course fee to the Center for Ethics and separate fees to UM Continuing Education for online learning and optional academic credit.  Follow the steps described above to pay the online learning fee and to select and pay for the optional academic credit. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Difference between taking the cours for credit or as a workshop: taking the course for credit requires payment of the $135 credit recording fee and is designed for those who want an academic record of their participation. This fee only applies for those wishing to receive a transcript: if you are not interested in receiving credit or a grade, you may prefer to take the course as a workshop.

If you do intend to take the course for credit and to transfer those credits to your home institution, we suggest that you check with your home institution before registering, as your institution may require you to make arrangements with your home institution's registrar before attending our courses.

Traveling to and Staying Missoula, MT

This course includes a workshop session in Missoula, MT, which all participants are expected to attend. If you plan on flying into Missoula, we recommend that you book your flight as early as possible. In addition to using the local airport-- Missoula International Airport (MSO)-- visitors sometimes choose to fly into Coeur d'Alene, ID, and drive to Missoula.

The course meetings will occur on the campus of The University of Montana, and there are a number of hotels and bed and breakfasts within easy walking distance, including the Doubletree Hotel Missoula/Edgewater and Blossom's Bed and Breakfast. Participants who want to stay on campus in the student dorms should contact the UM Residence Life Office to discuss options and availability. Again, we suggest that you make your arrangements early to ensure availablity.

Missoula and western Montana are beautiful, particularly in the summer months. A number of national parks and wilderness recreation areas are within easy driving distance; if you enjoy outdoor recreation, you may be interested in spending some extra time in Montana. If you're thinking of doing so, the Missoula Convention and Visitors Bureau and Missoula.com magazine may interest you.

Finally, if you're interested in environmental ethics as well as teaching ethics,
take a look at the Center for Ethics's summer 2008 Environmental Ethics Institute.
