Driver Safety for Campuses

Training for Campuses

Reminder: Individuals who have not completed one of the Driver Safety for Campuses Course provided by the State Risk Management and Tort Defense Division will not be authorized to rent or drive a vehicle with a capacity of more than 7 occupants for the University of Montana.

The UM Vehicle Use Policy requires that all individuals who will be driving large passenger vehicles UM owned or other rentals must complete the Driver Safety for Campuses Course or hold a current CDL with a passenger endorsement. This assists The University of Montana in mitigating the risks involved in handling these large capacity vehicles.

Once you have completed the Driver Safety for Campuses Course you will be issued a completion certificate. You should provide your department with a photocopy of your certificate to keep on file to document that you have taken the course. This certification is good for three years at which time you will need to be recertified.

As with all mandatory training, employees can expect to be compensated by their departments for time spent training. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Krebsbach at ext. 2700.
